1CB is full-time residents and second homeowners who decided the best answer to a divisive tax proposal is to show up together, positively, as one Crested Butte.
Who we are
1CB is an unaffiliated group of full-time residents, second homeowners, retirees, local business owners, realtors, property managers, and families who have been part of this valley for decades. Full-time residents lead this effort. Second homeowners follow that lead and support however they can.
We are not a political party and we are not against the Town. We are against a tax that sorts neighbors into categories, that voters already turned down in 2021, and that raises a fraction of what the town's own capital plan requires. We are non-partisan and open to citizens of all political persuasions.
Who owns this site
1CB.us is a community advocacy website owned and operated by the Vote NO on Tax issue committee, which was registered and accepted by the Town of Crested Butte on August 14, 2026 for the November 3, 2026 election. You can read the Town Clerk's confirmation letter here. We are an independent committee and are not affiliated with the Town of Crested Butte or Gunnison County.
What we're asking
Vote NO on 2A in November. Then let's work together, residents, business owners, foundations, second homeowners and council, on a budget that actually adds up. That means honest numbers, clear priorities, and solutions built with the whole community rather than aimed at one part of it.

Four things we hold to
One community
Full-time and part-time, working families and retirees, this town runs on people who show up for each other. We won't sort neighbors into taxable categories.
Positive, not negative
We make our case on the merits: the budget math, the 2021 vote, and a better path forward. No scare tactics, no blaming anyone for the town's finances.
Honest budget math
This tax is a small patch on a much bigger gap. We want a public, line-by-line look at spending and priorities before anyone is asked for more.
Stewardship
This valley outlasts all of us. Decisions should be made with the next forty years in mind, not the next election cycle.
